Fishing:
Formally trained, or self taught, Fishing is for ANYONE who wishes to pick up a pole and try their luck.
Although the Trade-Skill enhances Fishing, it is not neccessary to catch simple fish.
Game Master:
It will be up to you to set a water source Difficulty Rating of 25-300 (even higher for legendary fishing spots). When you do this, the player will roll the %Dice. If the result is equal or higher than the Difficulty Rating, the player will get a bite.
Example:
If you fish in a river with a 90 difficulty rating, do the following:
1. Roll your %Dice.
2. If you roll 90%+, you will get a bite.
3. After a player gets a bite, a successful avoidance-roll vs. “Dexterity” must be rolled to secure and reel in the fish.
Based on the size and type of fish taking the bait, you may wish to adjust the Avoidance-Roll/Save to your discretion.
While some might find it easy to land a larger (more feisty) fish, some characters might have trouble (this is based on the skill-set and experience he or she has in fishing). Once the “Fishing” (or equivelant) Trade-Skill has been learned, the more a character fishes, the higher his or her skill will advance, transforming once difficult feats into manageable catches.
There will be rulings and charts for each type of water source as follows:
- Time for fish to take the bait.
- Time between bites.
- Size of fish hooked within a:
(Lake)
(Sea or Ocean).
Pick a Water Source that best describes where a character is fishing:
- Each time you cast your hook, roll on Chart #1 to see if fish are biting.
- If the result is: “Fish are not biting in this spot”, you will have to wait until the rising of the next sun to begin successfully fishing again in that spot (or move to a different spot). If you can find a different area on the same water source that is a minimum of 100' away from your current position, you may continue fishing.
